Data Science

J & M Price College of Eng. ยท CP SC

Undergraduate Certificate

Description

This certificate is designed to provide exposure to the three major pedagogical categories within data science: understanding of the theoretical underpinnings; computational method design, development and use; and domain-specific applications.

Learning Outcomes

๐Ÿ“

Have competence in linear algebra: understanding how to represent vector spaces and matrices and calculate standard operations among them.

๐Ÿ“

Have competence in simple probability and statistics: understand (continuous and discrete) probability distributions, how to perform operations on them and extract information from them, and assess the probability and likelihood of events.

๐Ÿ“

Have competence in simple programming tasks: write small functions, use external packages, debug and modify small programs, use object oriented constructs.

๐Ÿ“

Have competence in data wrangling and simple analysis: acquire, clean, and reshape data from existing sources, make reliable predictions and isolate signal from noise.

๐Ÿ“

Have awareness of ethical issues in data science, including how a data science pipeline can result in downstream effects, and how to work as a group to make ethical decisions.

Graduation Requirements
